This is a list of the people behind the UK Hypnotherapy Council with their contact details.
College Principal, author and researcher, Adam is responsible for implementing the vision and direction of the organisation as well as seeking to bring a clear channel of communication between the public, the UKHC and its members.
I am a founding member of the UKHC. With a group of colleagues, we sought to create an organisation that raises standards and helps the field of hypnotherapy to develop. I have been in full-time clinical practice as a hypnotherapist since 1996. I am also founder and principal of the Anglo-European College of Therapeutic Hypnosis and the first hypnotherapist to feature on the panel of experts of the TalkHealth clinics in collaboration with NHS Choices.
Today, I lecture at Bournemouth University where I also conduct research working towards my PhD. I authored the first-ever meta-analysis and systematic literature review to feature in a peer-reviewed academic journal exploring the effectiveness of clinical applications of self-hypnosis and am the author of several books on hypnosis including The Science of Self-Hypnosis: The Evidence-Based Way To Hypnotise Yourself and Hypnosis For Running.
Claire guides our officers and membership in all matters relating to understanding and upholding the professional standards and ethics expected of the UKHC.
As Professional Standards and Ethics officer, my role ensures you have the information and resources to know, understand and act within the ethics and values of the UKHC and to ensure that this knowledge guides and governs your conduct and professional practice. Adopting strong professional standards helps maintain a safe and effective approach. Adherence to our code of conduct provides you and your clients the reassurance of commitment to the highest levels of ethical practice.
With a background in strategic HR in both private and public sectors, I trained with Adam and his team in 2015 to add to my skill sets. In 2017 I gave up the London commute and opened a consultancy specialising in coaching and development for Business owners and their teams.
I live on the South Coast where my family leave me the posh chocolates and insist I keep my love of hats to when they are not in my company.
As Business Development and Marketing Officer for the UKHC I am responsible for social media and all marketing and business development strategies. As such I aim to promote the group and showcase the good work that we do, including the annual UK Hypnosis Convention.
As well as this role I am a qualified hypnotherapist working in the beautiful New Forest. I trained with Adam Eason at the Anglo European School of Hypnotherapy. I am passionate about all things hypnotherapy and its benefits. Combining my practice with my marketing role is a perfect fit for me as previously I have worked in direct marketing, have various qualifications in the field including a BA(Hons) in Advertising.
I am also a busy wife and mother of three children living in the New Forest with three ponies, two dogs and various chickens! There is never a dull moment!
In my role as Liaison Officer, I am responsible for managing the relationship between the UKHC and relevant third-party organisations and am the point of contact in this regard.
My previous careers have also been client-based, serving the general public in managerial roles for corporate and private companies, mainly around the Southern part of the Country. I became interested in Hypnosis when I was 18 years old and in later life qualified with Adam Eason, which I regret not doing earlier on in life. I have a Clinic in Lymington which is close to where I live on the South Coast. I also work with The Four Seasons Hotel chain, where I have developed a new concept of therapy for them.
I am a 24/7 hypnosis fanatic and it is a real privilege to be working for the UKHC.
As Continuing Professional Development (CPD) officer, my role is to support members in meeting the required professional standards, as set out by the UKHC, via a clear development policy, a shared understanding of the benefits of maintaining and advancing practitioner skills, knowledge and performance and by providing access to high-quality training and development opportunities.
Prior to training with Adam and his team at the Anglo European College of Hypnotherapy, my working background has been focused within the fields of coaching, HR and learning & development, underpinned by a psychology degree and a passion for helping people reach their full potential.
Based near Bristol, I live with my husband and two boys and can mostly be found engaged in nerf wars, light sabre battles, or shouting at the side of a football pitch.
As Research Officer, I am responsible for helping members develop their awareness and understanding of hypnosis research. I help to disseminate research to our members, highlight recent important studies and answer member questions on this topic. Hypnosis research is being carried out across the world all the time, yet many hypnotherapists are not aware of it and so they are unable to use it to inform their practice. Therapists need to be aware of up to date information so that they can adapt their approach in line of new research if required. Not only is it hugely beneficial to hypnotherapists but also the hypnotherapy profession as a whole, when we all have an awareness of the recent research available within the field. The UKHC enables this by providing our members with full access to the International Journal of Clinical & Experimental Hypnosis, one of the leading peer-reviewed hypnosis journals.
I run a hypnotherapy practice in Bristol where I specialise in working with anxiety, phobias and sleep-related issues. I am also a classroom assistant on the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma run by Anglo-European College of Therapeutic Hypnosis.
As Technical Director my responsibilities cover the many technical aspects of the UKHC including this website and the UK Hypnosis Convention website. As a practising hypnotherapist, I have personal knowledge of the challenges and rewards of starting, building and running an effective practice and bring that experience to this role.
My pre-hypnotherapy background is in IT as a software engineer, software team leader and development department manager. Combined with my hypnotherapy training and experience this gives me a valuable perspective on the use of technology to support a modern therapy practice.
I live near Orpington, North-West Kent with my cellist wife and dogs Jasper and Ozzie.
We are currently recruiting for a Member Services officer.
In the meantime, our Technical Director, Steve Baxter, will be taking care of our membership and membership enquiries. Please continue top use the normal email address below for all such enquiries, or when you are not quite sure who to contact !
I am a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist with a MSc in Developmental Psychology. I am interested in human behaviour, why we behave the way that we do.
We are not taught about our brains or our mental health in School (yet!), or how to manage these effectively. We don’t have an appreciation of the impact of what we / others say and how thoughts can affect our behaviour and well-being.
Alloquor means “to speak / to encourage” and I set it up to combine my knowledge and experience and share what I have learned through my own journey and my love of education and research. I operated a private practice in Clinical Hypnotherapy however, I noticed that the way people access support is changing. Along with the fact that not everyone can afford one to one support therefore, I have tiered Alloquor towards online high quality research based e-Learning courses and group-work sessions delivered in a variety of settings
